How do I navigate through Ricky and the Spider?

Ricky and the Spider uses Adobe Flash Player 9; the flash-player is automatically downloaded with the game. To play, click on the file with the red f. After the initial screen, a screen with scattered leaves appears, that symbolize the eight different levels of the game. The first level starts with the introduction where the child can choose whether or not to help Ricky and Lisa. A positive reply leads the child directly to level I.
In the bottom right-hand corner of the screen is a hidden button that allows you to switch to full-screen-mode. This button appears when you drag your mouse over it. To exit the full-screen-mode, press escape.

Where do I find the keywords?

The keywords are to be found in the PDF ‘Therapeutic Aspects’ under Instructions on the website.
As of level V, only the therapist, in cooperation with the parents, can determine if the child has completed the therapeutic homework satisfactorily. The keyword is necessary in order to advance in the game and appears at the beginning of levels V, VI, VII and VIII. If the therapist is of the opinion that the child has successfully completed the assignments, he or she may click on “Yes” and Dr. Owl will provide the keyword.

What is the meaning of the symbols in the menu?

There are three symbols in the menu – a leaf, a spider web and a notebook. By clicking on the leaf you will return to the screen with scattered leaves, which enables you to choose the level you want to access. The spider web shows you which level you are currently in and the notebook symbolizes the homework for levels I-IV.

Which documents can be printed directly in the game?

The compulsion maps of Ricky, Lisa and the child as well as the certificate can be printed directly in the game. Because this may take some time, you can also print the compulsion map (Worksheet 4) and the certificate directly from the website (Therapeutic Materials).

How do I complete the compulsion map in the game?

When filling out the compulsion map in level IV it may be necessary, depending on the computer being used, to not type in the required number, but to click with your mouse, on the box with the corresponding number. By doing so, an abridged version of Ricky’s and Lisa’s texts appears. If the child wishes to complete his or her own compulsion map on the computer there is a limit of four lines per text box.
